Museums are open! Framing Lisa Brice and Tim Walker
With museums set to reopen on Monday 17th May, we’re celebrating two exhibitions which we’ve had the pleasure of working on behind closed doors: Lisa Brice at Charleston House and Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser at the V&A.
Sotheby’s Auction for Australian Bushfire Relief
We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Sotheby’s on a charity auction organised in response to the devastating Australian bushfire crisis in 2019-20.
Artworks by six phenomenal artists will be auctioned to raise funds for two Australian charities whose recovery has been hampered by Covid-19
New Limited Edition by Jeremy Deller
Jeremy Deller, has created a new limited-edition print, to help FRAME London raise funds for the victims of the worst bushfires in Australia’s history.
The artwork is an artist impression of one of the Australian residences of the Murdoch family engulfed in smoke and flames.
The print will be sold in aid of the community organisation Mallacoota and District Recovery Association. Images of the fire ravaged town of Mallacoota and its residents sheltering on the beach became front page news around the world.
FRAME Edition with Aimée Parrott
We’re pleased to announce a new edition with Aimée Parrott, launched to coincide with her solo exhibition at Broadway Gallery, Letchworth Garden City.
Juno's Volute is the second edition to be published by FRAME Editions - a series of collaborations between artist and framer in the tradition of artist's frames. It is a series of ten individual monotypes linked by process and form, overlaid with translucent washes of acrylic ink on glass. The frame has been designed to provide a structure for the various layers to interact.
A simple guide to gilding a frame
Gilding is the technique used for applying a very thin coating of gold leaf to solid surfaces, such as a the surface of a frame. At FRAME, we think gilded frames provide a timeless, decadent touch to plain walls. Gilding can be opulent or playful or simply elevate the colours in your artwork.
In this post, we’ll show you a brief overview of applying 23.5 carat loose gold leaf to a 2.5 metre square reverse angled frame - which now lives on the wall of a beautiful hotel in Macao.

For our new series ‘Frame at Home’, writer and curator (and close pal of FRAME) Francesca Gavin gives us a glimpse of her incredible art collection at home, including works by Mark Leckey, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and Eduardo Paolozzi.
Here she gives us her top 5 tips for curating our own art during this time of lockdown.
All things fungi at Somerset House: our Q&A with curator Francesca Gavin
Bringing together the work of over 40 leading artists, designers and musicians, Mushrooms at Somerset House looks at the colourful cultural legacy of fungi as well as the promise it offers to reimagine our relationship with the planet. We’ve been proud to support the exhibition, and continue our collaboration with the curator (and long-time friend of FRAME), Francesca Gavin. Here we talk to her about the fascination with all things fungi, and what informs her curatorial and framing choices.
Framing Highlights of 2019
As the year draws to an end, we wanted to say thank you to all of our wonderful customers, and take a look at some of our favourite framing moments. From Almine Rech to the V&A, we’ve been fortunate to frame for some of London's best museums and galleries. That’s not to mention all of the weird and beautiful framing projects we’ve worked on for our private clients — from a taxidermied bird arrangement, to locks of children's hair, family portraits, antique rugs to Picasso plates and Pettibon prints and an entire apartment's framing for a bollywood star. We have enjoyed it all and hope to see you in 2020!
Interior Design Trends 2020 — Framing at Home
With the new year fast approaching, we’ve taken inspiration from our work with the V&A, Whitechapel Gallery and Michael Hoppen Gallery (to name a few), and rounded-up some of our best-loved projects to look ahead and predict which interior design framing trends will be popular in 2020.
New Artists' Edition by Marc Camille Chaimowicz
We're delighted to announce the latest FRAME Editions collaboration - a special new artists’ edition by Marc Camille Chaimowicz co-produced with Nottingham Contemporary, created to celebrate their tenth anniversary.
The edition which comes in a frame designed by the artist, is conceived as a colour-study for a silk scarf. The repeat pattern, printed in five colours, is split into two halves to imply a fold in the fabric, front and back. Each edition is printed onto a hand-applied background in a colour which recurs in the frame design - resulting in each work being slightly different.
Framing Kara Walker
This October has seen the unveiling of Kara Walker’s extraordinary new commission for the Tate Modern Turbine Hall - a monumental faux-Victorian fountain entitled Fons Americanus that confronts the way we look at the history of slavery. Running concurrently to the commission is a new exhibition by the artist at Sprueth Magers Gallery, which we have had the honour of framing.
