For our new series ‘Frame at Home’, writer and curator (and close pal of FRAME) Francesca Gavin gives us a glimpse of her incredible art collection at home, including works by Mark Leckey, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye and Eduardo Paolozzi.
Here she gives us her top 5 tips for curating our own art during this time of lockdown.
1. Think of your space
Try to compliment the space available to you. I like centring work on a wall so it sits with the furniture in the room.
2. Experiment with size
If you cant afford a large pieces, fill a space with smaller works. Its also a great chance to experiment with emerging artists.
3. Colour counts
Try to create resonance with your room – and if in doubt stick to a limited palette or monochrome.
4. Live with work that makes you smile
You’re going to see if more than anything in a gallery. Smiling counts.
5. Hang and hang again
Every year or so I try to rehang my collection, partly because I keep adding to it but also the shift helps make you look at the art piece in a new way.
